Jeremy in Bezug auf Keldor

Statt 4500 Keldors zu machen... haben wir 5000 produziert. 500 Keldors werden AUSSCHLIESSLICH über he-man.org verteilt. Sie sind für die Leute bestimmt, die sich for einigen Monaten in dem Thread von JVS ("Wer will Keldor, kann aber nicht zur Con?") vermerken liessen. (Anmerkung: Jeder, der dort postete und sagte daß er gerne einen hätte und nicht zur Con könne, wurde in der Liste vermerkt.) Auf der ComicCon sowie WizardWorld werden wir 750 Figuren pro Tag vergeben.

Jeremy in Bezug auf sich selber

Ab dem 22. Juli - dem Tag nach der Comic-Con - werde ich nicht länger als Manager für Masters of the Universe tätig sein. Ich werde teilhaben... in der Art, daß ich mit dem neuen Team arbeiten werde. Und, ich bin ein großer Fan... daher werde ich über diesen Aspekt auch weiterhin teilhaben. Dennoch ist meine zeit gekommen, weiter zu gehen. Ich werde alle Nickelodeon und Fox Zweige bei Mattel übernehmen. Dies wird eine großartige Gelegenheit sein.

Jeremy in Bezug auf den Collectors-Club

Zum Jahresende werden wir bei Mattel einen Sammlerklub für Erwachsene starten, welcher ganz besonders Exklusivfiguren für den erwachsenen MotU-Sammler anbieten wird. Dies wird einige der Figuren einbeziehen, die ihr immer wolltet. Der Club wird international sein. Grundsätzlich werden wir wahrscheinlich 4 Exclusives jährlich anbieten. Die Zauberin könnte eines dieser Klub-Exklusives sein.

Jeremy in Bezug auf neue Charaktere und Case-Ratio

Ihr solltet spezifische neue Figurenserien 2004 sehen. Count Marzo ist ein großer Kandidat für eine Einführung Mitte bis Ende nächsten Jahres. Ich kann nichts versprechen, aber das ist etwas, das wir noch näher betrachten müssen. Ja, wir wollten eher ein 12-Pack- als 2 6-Pack-Assortments herausliefern. (Anmerkung: Gemeint sind die Kisten mti den Toys, welche an die Händler verschickt, und auch von AFX bestellt werden können.) Dies wurde aber von unseren Einzelhändlern nicht begrüsst. Wir werden zu einem 1:1:1:1:1:1 Case-Ratio übergehen (von jeder Figur ein Exemplar pro Kiste)... jetzt stehen wir gerade bei 2:2:1:1, und wir werden noch näher an die "nur 1er" gehen. Außerdem werden 2004 nur je 1 Skeletor und He-Man in den meisten 6-Pack-Assortments sein. Wenn wir neu-gestaltete Charaktere einführen, werden wir sicher stellen daß diese zum Start in guter Menge vorhanden sein werden... wahrscheinlich, indem wir von ihnen pro Assortment 2 Stück einpacken.

Jeremy in Bezug auf Riesenfiguren

Im November werden wir eine 12-inch Skeletor und eine 12-inch He-Man Figur herausgeben, mit beweglichen Armen, Beinen, Kopf und Händen... sowie Schert/Stab etc. Diese werden mehr dem Cartoon nachempfunden sein, da der Brustkorb größer ist (a la Ninja Turtles) und insgesamt stämmiger... aber dennoch das Design der Horsemen beibehaltend.

Jeremy in Bezug auf Mike Young Productions (MYP)

MYP hat keinerlei MotU-Figuren re-designt. MYP liefert ein Cartoon Konzept, und unser internes Design-Team betrachtet und re-designt es. An diesem Punkt ist nur das Cartoon-Aussehen kreiert. Die Four Horsemen formen den Cartoon dann in Toys um... sie designen die Figur. Dann wiederum schaut sich unser Designteam diese Kreationen an.

Jeremy in Bezug auf DVDs

Eines der Dinge, die wir im November/Dezember tun werden ist, einige Figuren mit VHS und DVDs zu bestücken. Dadurch werden einige DVDs auf den Markt kommen. Ich wette daß ihr 2005 tonnenweise DVDs sehen werdet...

Jeremy in Bezug auf Adam/He-Man Bausätze

An einem Punkt hatten wir einen Prinz Adam Bausatz, den man in He-Man verwandeln konnte... und einen Keldor, den man in Skeletor verwandeln konnte...dies wurde endgültig verworfen.

Neben seinen ankündigungen nahm sich Jeremy Padawer noch die Zeit einige Fragen der Fans zu beantworten.

Was ist mit der wilde Horde? Wann kommt sie?

Die Horde kommt...Die Horde steht in den Startlöchern, Eternia anzugreifen. Seid bitte geduldig. Es wird passieren. Es gibt da etwas. Und, es geht darum, warum die Snake Men so eine große Rolle einnehmen.

Wird es jetzt durch Snake Strike Skeletor keinen Sssqueeze mehr geben?

Ja, ich stimme zu daß Sssqueeze wahrscheinlich die bessere Möglichkeit gewesen wäre. Wir nahmen den linken statt den rechten Weg. Das schliesst einen kommenden Sssqueeze allerdings keinesfalls aus!

Wird es Marlena und Randor als Figuren geben?

Das würden nur Klub-Exclusives. Der König und die Königin haben keine Resonanz bei den Kids.

Wird es Clawful als Figur geben?

Ja!

Ich hoffe, daß nur He-Man und Skeletor die "Snake"-Behandlung erhalten, und wir auch weiterhin normale Zweitcharaktere bekommen, richtig?

Was ist mit Evil-Lyn?

2003 bringen wir die erste Version von Evil-Lyn heraus. 2004 werden wir von ihr eine zweite Version heruasgeben, ebenso wie von Teela. Die Zauberin könnte nur ein Exclusive werden, aber man kann ja nie wissen.

Was ist mit She-Ra und Hordak?

She-Ra und Hordak sind leider außerhalb meiner Zeitperiode, um über sie etwas sagen zu können... denkt dran, wir müssen dieses Zeug vor den Einzelhändlern bekommen. Wenn sie niemals den Markt erreichen...

Wird es ein Griffen Toy geben

Ich habe die kommenden Vehikel angekündigt - Spit Bull, Battle Bones und Windraider. PS - Sieht so aus, als würden wir beim Battle Bones doch das "s" nehmen anstelle des "z"

Was ist mit Minicomics?

Ich würde einsprachige Comics bevorzugen... wie auch immer, das wird nicht meine Entscheidung sein. Außerdem bevorzugt Mattel, wie ihr wisst, 3-sprachige Verpackungen und Produkte.

Warum wurde das Aussehen von He-man und Skeletor in Serie 2 verändert?

Ohne Kinder können wir nicht überleben... und diese reagierten unglaublich positiv auf die Snake Men. Sie wollten mehr Action und sie wollten daß He-Man neue Kräfte, Rüstung und Waffen hat. (Anmerkung: Jeremy bezieht sich hier auf die Gründe für He-Man s neues "Snake Armor" Outfit, und warum der Sammlermarkt alleine nicht rentabel genug ist.) Ironischerweise sind die Snake Men nach Eternia gekommen, um den Planeten zu retten. Wenn es also keine Horde gibt, heisst dies, daß... die Snake Men buchstäblich alles übernehmen.

(Rhea) ok...have regular figures been suspended to accomodate for the snakermen storyline?

(JeremyPadawer) Starting in November 2003, you will see the red MOTU packaging updated to a snake-green. The Snakemen are taking over Eternia. We are all in peril.

(Kelly) Is there any chance that the Keldor figure will be carded and put on shelves or is it merely going to be an exclusive?

(JeremyPadawer) There is definitely a chance that we will be bringing back Keldor... however, never in this deco or in this packaging again.

(Evil-Count-Marzo) Where is my Count Marzo figure? Sorry.....I m predictable.

(JeremyPadawer) ECM, great question. You should start seeing new series specific figures in 2004. Marzo is a great candidate for a mid to late 04 introduction. I can t make a promise, but it s something we need to look into further.

(alucard) is there any plans on making cases bigger? like 12 figs to a case instead of just 6 he man s or skeletor s?

(JeremyPadawer) yes, we looked into going to a 12-pack rather than 2 6-Pack assortments. It was not favored by our retailers. In regards to the case ratio,
we are moving to a 1:1:1:1:1:1 case ratio... now, we are at a 2:2:1:1 and we re going to get even closer to the 1 s all around. Also, in 2004 there will
be only 1 Skeletor and 1 He-Man in most 6-packs. As we introduced newly tooled characters we will make sure that they have a good launch quantity... potentially go 2 per casepack for those
figures. And, ps, thanks .orgers for the direction on that.

(Sllohcin) Will we see cartoon-sized figures for the 6" line? eg. Large Ram Man, Clawful, etc.

(JeremyPadawer) Sllohcin, yes... in November we will release a 12 Skeletor and He-Man figure, with articulating arms, legs, neck, wrists... sword/staff,
etc. These are more cartoon d out as the chests are bigger (a la Ninja Turtles) and bulkier overall... however, maintaining the Horsemen s cool sculpt.

(Jast0r) Jeremy, will MYP be designing the rest of the figures? I d like to see more 4H designs, personally.

(JeremyPadawer) Jast0r, no. MYP has not designed any MOTU figures. MYP provides a cartoon concept and our internal design team reviews and redesigns. At this point, only the cartoon image is created. The Four Horsemen then turn the cartoon into a toy... they design the figures. Then, our internal design team reviews the Horsemen s sculpts. If I had to rank order the input into the figures, the order would go....

Horsemen - sculpt figures, interpret tv show image.
Internal Design Team - manages entire process.
MYP - creates cartoons.

(Jast0r) i get the feeling the fans don t want to see designs that are interpreted from the tv show image... rather see 100% original 4H designs

(JeremyPadawer) Thanks. One of the things that we will be doing in Nov/Dec is packing out some figures with VHS & DVD. So, there will be some DVDs on the market then. I ll bet that moving into 2005, you ll see a TON of DVDs...

(AlienPathfinder) How will the Keldor figures be distributed at SDCC?

(JeremyPadawer) 750 per day on Thursday, Friday, Sat and sunday.

(JeremyPadawer) At one point we had a prince adam model kit that you could turn into He-man... and a keldor that you could turn into Skeletor... this was ultimately rejected.

(NealHyde) Jeremy, am I correct that Hallmark Entertainment (subsidiary of Artisen) still owns the rights (or partially) to the Filmation Series?

(JeremyPadawer) Neal, it s complicated. I don t have the contract, but there is truth there.

(JeremyPadawer) Kafos, it s in the works for sure...basically, probably have 4 exclusives per year. Club will be international as well.

(JeremyPadawer) The case assortments have been so, so at best. They ve gotten better, right? slowly but surely. They will continue to get better. You can t get better than 1:1:1:1:1:1

(JeremyPadawer) Because this is all about taking another perspective at a same timeframe. Like two painters.

(Drev) Is there anyway for some .org memebrs to get on the list for a Keldor? Yes, i am one that didn t sign (I read the thread in a different way :P)

(JeremyPadawer) Unfortunately, I don t know. The He-Man.org team is handling this. Maybe they can do a lotto for the remaining figures if there weren t 500 folks signed up. But, again, this is up to them entirely.

(Flidais31) I believe you said that the sorceress was possibly a club exclusive, are there any plans for more female characters in the line?

(JeremyPadawer) Yes, in 2003 we will issue the 1st evil lyn deco. In 2004 we will issue her second deco. Teela will also be re-released in new deco. Sorceress might be an exclusive only, but you never know.

(Kafos) hi again just wondering what the chances are of seeing the king and queen? maybe in the club?

(JeremyPadawer) that would be a club only issue. the king and queen are not resonating with kids.

(Rokkon) Hi Jeremy, I was wondering if you could give us just anything, anything... a tiny little hint in the way of She-Ra or perhaps Force Captain Adora showing up with Hordak?

(JeremyPadawer) I can t. She-Ra and Hordak are unfortunately out of my time horizon to talk about... remember, we have to get this stuff before the retailers first. If they never hit the market...

(JeremyPadawer) I ve announced the upcoming vehicles - Spit Bull, Battle Bones and Windraider. PS - it looks like we might be able to go with the (S) instead of the (Z). Griffin has not been developed.

(Lookie) Don t you feel that Snake Strike Skeletor takes away from the originality of Squeeeze. Perhaps some other feature would be better suited?

(JeremyPadawer) Yes. I agree that Squeeeze was probably the way to go. We took a left instead of a right. This does not AT ALL limit a future Squeeeze.

(Uglor) When will we see clawful?

(JeremyPadawer) ok... you ve broken me. I m ready to make an announcement regarding the Horde. But, I just got to tell you...there is an (it depends) here. Are you ready?

(JeremyPadawer) HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT.

(JeremyPadawer) The evil horde is waiting in the wings to attack eternia. Please be patient. IT will happen.

(JeremyPadawer) There is one issue.

(JeremyPadawer) And, it gets to the heart of why the snakemen are taking such a big role. Without kids, we can t survive... Kids responded incredibly positively to the snakemen. They wanted more action and they wanted He-Man to have new powers, armor and weaponry.

(JeremyPadawer) The Snakemen, ironically, are coming to save Eternia. So, if there is no Horde, it just means that the Snakemen literally take over.

(PositronicMan) Assuming we ever get minicomics...Will they have to be trilingual?

(JeremyPadawer) Great question. Assuming that you do, I d prefer to do individual language comics... however, it won t be my choice. Also, as you know, Mattel strongly prefers 3 language packaging and product.

( JeremyPadawer ) I will never forget you guys. Frankly, I m not going away. I ll just be wearing more hats.

(JeremyPadawer) Let me explain...He-Man is surviving. It most definitely needs a stronger kid base.

(JeremyPadawer) First, let me tell you how long I ve been wanting to tell you this. About 3 months ago, Val and the MV group started a thread...

(JeremyPadawer) Instead of making 4,500 Keldors... we made 5,000. 500 Keldors are going to be distributed through he-man.org ONLY. These will go to the 500 fans who placed their names on the thread.

(JeremyPadawer) We are doing this for many reasons...but, the most important:

(JeremyPadawer) for the last 3+ years he-man.org has been the heart and soul of MOTU. MVCreations, Val Staples and the team there, are the heart at he-man.org. The soul belongs to the fans.

(TheShadow) I am sure this is exciting news for all the fans!

(JeremyPadawer) That s announcement #1. So, announcement #2:

(JeremyPadawer) I will no longer be managing Masters of the Universe come July 22nd, the day after Comic-Con. I will be involved... in that I will be working with the new team. And, I am a big fan... so, I will be involved from that aspect as well.

(JeremyPadawer) However, my time has come to move on. I will be taking over all Nickelodeon and Fox brands at Mattel. This will be an exciting opportunity...huge, really.
